Radio Warneford Is Looking For Volunteers
Radio Warneford, the award-winning hospital radio service based at Warwick Hospital, is on the lookout for new volunteers who have a few hours to spare each week and would like to help visit patients on the wards and collect record requests.
The station broadcasts throughout the hospital via the free Patient Wifi service - even visitors can now tune in on their phones or tablets and hear our shows in most public areas of the hospital. Radio Warneford is on-air 24 hours a day, every day, with live programmes from our broadcasting teams on weekday evenings and Sunday mornings, complimented by a mix of the best shows from our extensive programme library.
The station is currently looking to build a team of retired people, or those with a little bit of time on their hands, who can visit patients on the wards during the day. Although Radio Warneford's members visit patients each evening, there is often not enough time to chat about the pieces of music or comedy sketches that they may like to hear later that day.
Sara Lister, Station Manager at Radio Warneford, says "By having a dedicated Ward Visiting team, we will be able to spend much more quality time with a patient, lightening their day. In some cases, it may be that we are the only visitor the patient will have that day. I know people are interested in joining Radio Warneford but do not particularly want to speak on the air. This new team will give people a change to be part of our wonderful team and help others at the same time."
You don't need to have any particular qualifications to join Radio Warneford. If you like meeting and talking to new people, work effectively as part of a team, like music, have loads of enthusiasm and a keen sense of fun, you are exactly the sort of person we are looking for! All new Ward Visitors will receive full training.
If you are interested in joining our Ward Visiting team, go to http://www.radiowarneford.com/involved/ward_visitors.php and complete the online form. If you would like to arrange a taster visit, then please call Radio Warneford on (01926) 401402, leave your details on our answerphone and we will get back to you. There is plenty more information about the work that our volunteer members do in the Getting Involved section of our website. We also have other vacancies on some of our weekday/weekend broadcasting teams. Visit our website to find out more.
So why not join Radio Warneford’s Ward Visiting team today and do something very special with your free time
