Radio Warneford Shortlisted For
Radio Warneford, the hospital radio station based at Warwick Hospital, has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2014 Hospital Radio Awards.
The station, which has just celebrated its fortieth anniversary, is one of ten hospital broadcasters from around the UK in the running for the Best Special Event Award. It has also been shortlisted for the finals in the Best Promotion category.
Radio Warneford's entry in the Best Special Event category was a 15-minute edit of live coverage of the 2013 Leamington Rotary Charity Raft Race between Leamington Spa and Warwick which took place last June. The on-air promotion for the Radio Warneford Players' production of the pantomime Aladdin formed the entry in the Best Promotion category. Judges from the Hospital Broadcasting Association listened to entries from stations across the country before drawing up their shortlists in each category.
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Bristol on 29 March at the start of National Hospital Broadcasting Week.
This is the second year running that Radio Warneford has been shortlisted in these two categories. In 2013, the station came away with the Bronze Award for Best Special Event for its coverage of the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay as it passed through South Warwickshire.
