Our Service - Fundraising

Radio Warneford is a registered charity and relies on fundraising for the majority of its income. Fundraising activities fall into two categories. A limited amount of money comes from programme sponsorship. The rest is raised by members at various events each year. We currently have two main annual fundraising events - The Easter Egg Tombola and The Grand Draw. Both rely heavily on the support of local organisations who donate prizes. In the last couple of years, we have also had a stall in the Outpatients Department just before Christmas, selling cards and other gifts donated by members.

Our members are also active in the fundraising department. In past years, we set each of our eight teams a target to raise £25 in whatever way they chose. This resulted in various activities including car boot sales, "guess the number of sweets in a jar" and the sale of homemade cakes!

1998 saw Radio Warneford celebrate its 25th anniversary and there were a number of special fundraising events to mark the occasion. In April, we held a Charity Film Premiere at the Apollo 4 Cinema in Leamington Spa and raised more than £500. A Charity Pub Quiz in May was so successful, the pub ran out of chairs! That event brought in more than £170.

Early in 1999, Radio Warneford will be publishing a booklet full of Patients' Hints And Tips, put together by our Monday night Duty Producer from ideas that she has received for her weekly programme.

Radio Warneford would not be able to survive without the generous support it receives from local companies and the people of South Warwickshire. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us since 1973.
